commissioned paintings for sasso restaurant, boston. oil on canvas. 2009

this was a dream commission i did for my buddies who own sasso and lucca, both great restaurants in boston......they are reproductions of pieces of paintings by guercino, leonardo, and artemesia ghentileschi.......the three skinny ones are 20 inches by 8 feet....the larger one, from leonardo's "virgin on the rocks" is 30 inches by 10 feet

self-portrait, in anguish. oil on panel. 2008

this was a small painting i started a few years ago and put it down for awhile.....i finished it in 2008 and like how it came out

bellamy river landscape. oil on canvas. 2008

this was a commission that i did.......i don't do many landscapes, but my friend, sean beavers, took me here and we painted this scene all day.....i need to do this more often

exitus impetus. oil on panel. 42in x 30in. 2007

this painting really doesn't refer to any event, in particular, i just like to create some kind of tension, or tell a story with people

die kuh der kuh. oil on panel. 2006

one of the most unique paintings i've done......this is a commissioned portrait of my friend karl.....i really experimented here (with the help of his wife, ali) using waxes, backward text, and beard hair......die kuh der kuh is german for the cow of cows

peace. oil on panel. 42in x 36in. 2005

from the "emotions" series.....one of the best technical paintings i've done......sometimes, as a painter, you just sit back and think "i really nailed it"......probably will only happen a few times in your life

deceit. oil on panel. 36in x 42in. 2005

from the "emotions" series.....this painting probably means more to me than any other painting i've done......i sold it the first day of the show to one of my students....you are seeing it in process, but i like the way my drawing contrasts with the finished skin tones

trust. oil on panel. 36in x 42in. 2005

from the "emotions" series......first time i really attempted a floating figure.....i had my wife pose for me on a 1/2 inch piece of glass to get the perspective right

despair. oil on panel. 36in x 42in. 2005

from the "emotions" series.....i had the emotion i wanted to paint, but the image didn't come to me right away.....until i thought of turner's "slave ship" and i put it in the background and it was done

greed. oil on panel. 42in x 36in. 2005

one of the paintings from the "emotion" series. my model for this, matt, is incredible to work with

hope. oil on panel. 48in x 20in. 2004

this was the initial painting that started the previous five paintings on emotions

nude with still-life. oil on panel. 32in x 24in. 2004

my only romantic painting

chromium oxide nude. oil on panel. 14 x 32. 2004

i went through a phase when chromium oxide was my favorite color.  i am over it now

egg.flask.ball. oil on panel. 8in x 14in. 2003

i don't do many still-lifes, but here is one that i enjoyed very much

kathy, white shirt. oil on panel. 14in x 20in. 2003

portrait of my wife

portrait of a man with a wine glass. oil on panel. 14in x 20in. 2003

i like the way i painted the hands and glass

triptych. oil on three panels. 9ft x 8ft. 1998

this was my first major figurative work done for my bfa thesis. the figures are life sized

still-life with falling penny. oil on panel. 1997

this is the first real still-life that i did....i would love to repaint someday
